A Few Activities from this Week Reading - we are reading independently and practicing writing short 'jots' as we read to show our thinking. We have started logging the books that we read. Writing - we each drew a map of a place that we know well, such as our neighborhood. We're using this map as an inspiration for future short true stories. Math - we are exploring simple story problems that show multiplication. Example-- There are 5 trees. Each tree has 6 apples. How many apples are there in all? We're also learning to draw models that represent these problems. Science - we completed a Mystery Science activity about using fossils to predict an ancient habitat. Social Studies - we read about the US Constitution for Constitution Day, and learned about a few different New Year celebrations around the world including Rosh Hashanah which begins tonight. Chromebooks- every student logged into our Google Classroom and we have attempted a few simple morning assignments. (We're getting there!) We all accessed our XtraMath accounts, which is a site that we use to practice math facts. Right now, we are all reviewing addition. We also logged into a math site called Prodigy. XtraMath and Prodigy are both sites that can be accessed at home. If your child wants to do this, you may need to email me for a password or Pin number to log them in. We also had a fire drill! Everyone is already a pro at mask-wearing! Dismissal Remember to send in a note for any change in the normal pickup plan. When in doubt--- just send in a note with your child in the morning. The latest Parent Pickup schedule: Families with last names beginning with A - I 3:00PM - 3:10 PM Families with last names beginning with J - P 3:10PM - 3:20 PM Families with last names beginning with Q - Z 3:20PM - 3:30 PM Have a great weekend!
